April DVBS Report

Spiritual Gardening

We are filled with gratitude as we report the successful completion of our 3-day Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) program, themed “Spiritual Gardening.” The program, which ran from Monday, April 14th to Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, brought together 347 children and 30 passionate teachers and volunteers for a time of learning, growth, and spiritual nourishment.

Each day began with devotions that grounded us in God’s Word, preparing the children for the lessons ahead. The sessions were thoughtfully designed to help participants explore biblical principles through the lens of gardening, focusing on: The Seed and the Soil, Sunlight and Watering, and The Gardener and the Fruits.

Children engaged in Bible lessons, crafts, memory verses, group reflections, and outdoor activities. Many children and teenagers expressed excitement for the hands-on experiences and the opportunity to grow in their faith in such a vibrant, interactive way.

We were honored to welcome a special group from Kariobangi, which included children with diverse abilities—among them those with autism, albinism, and other disabilities. Their participation reminded us of the beauty of God’s inclusive love and the power of community.

Teachers from Umoja also joined us to observe and experience the program, with the hope of replicating the same in their region—a testament to the growing impact of the DVBS vision.

We were especially blessed to have our spiritual mum spend time with the children and connect with the teachers, offering wisdom and encouragement. On the final day, our spiritual father graced us with his presence and led the closing prayer, offering heartfelt thanks to all participants, and blessing the seeds of faith planted during this time.

I loved learning that I can grow like a plant in God's garden. I now know how to read my Bible and pray more. I even shared what I learned with my mum!
Joy, Age 9 from House Of Worship
I liked how the teachers helped me do my crafts. No one laughed at me. I felt safe and happy. I thank God that I can be part of DVBS too.
Brian, Age 12 (Child from the Kariobangi Special Group)
I want to start something like this at our church. I liked the teaching and games, and I met new friends. God really helped me to understand more about Him.
Esther, Age 10 (Umoja group)
We are so inspired by the creativity, structure, and spiritual depth of this DVBS. We are taking notes, and we look forward to starting a similar program back in Umoja. This was truly a ministry in motion.
