Mathare/Kosovo Training Report

Children Workers Workshop

The Mathare Children Workers Workshop was a long-awaited and much-needed training that finally came to fruition on the 5th and 12th of April 2025. For many participants, this was an opportunity they had been praying and hoping for, as they have desired equipping and support in their work with children.

The workshop brought together 30 dedicated individuals who serve in various capacities, including children’s ministry teachers from different churches, youth and children workers from community-based organizations, and volunteers from faith-based institutions within Mathare and surrounding areas.

The sessions were highly interactive and practical, touching on key areas of children’s ministry that many of the participants found relevant and timely. The training sparked deep reflection, new ideas, and fresh energy among the attendees.

This training was a direct response to the growing need for a vibrant children’s ministry following a church planting initiative previously conducted in the area. As the new church communities began to grow, so did the demand for structured, effective, and spiritually grounded children’s ministry—highlighting the need to equip those working with children.

One of the key takeaways that stood out strongly was the importance of a teacher in a child's life—a theme that deeply resonated with everyone and sparked a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility.

By the end of the second session, participants openly expressed how impactful the training had been—not just for them personally, but for the growth and improvement of their respective ministries. Several participants even made a heartfelt request for an additional class, eager to deepen their learning and continue building on the momentum gained.

This training opened my eyes to how vital my role is in a child’s life. I feel more equipped and motivated to serve with purpose.
